Tutorial: How to Choose Your First Vape Mod

Do you know which vape mod is right for you?

Over nine million adults in the U.S. now vape on a regular basis. If you’re one of them – or thinking of becoming one of them – you might have run across information about vape mods. But if you’ve never tried one before, the world of mods can be a little confusing.

We’re here to clear things up. In this guide, we’ll give you everything you need to know about choosing the best vape mod for you. Keep reading to upgrade your vape experience!

What is a Vape Mod?

The word “mod” stands for, you guessed it, modify. This term got its start when vapers started to build and modify their e-cigs on their own.

Since manufacturers wanted to capitalize on this trend, storebought mods soon followed. Mods add to the power and capabilities of your e-cig. Today, there’s a huge variety of mods to choose from.

When to Try a Vape Mod

Vape mods are ideal for the vape beginner who’s already gotten started, and is looking for something new.

Let’s say you’ve been vaping for a few months. You use a simple e-cigarette, and you’ve become a master at adjusting the airflow, filling the tanks, and changing the wattage. However, you might not yet have played around with advanced features such as temperature control.

You start to feel like it’s time for a fancier, more powerful device. You might also be thinking about appearance – what if you had a nicer-looking vape?

However, when you start to research mods, you find an astounding number of options to choose from. There are so many manufacturers constantly releasing new products to compete with each other.

What you need is a guide that breaks down the features and benefits of each different type of mod. Otherwise, you could waste hours in e-cig forums without ever getting clear answers.

Feel like you’re ready for a mod? Here are a few things to consider.

Reasons to Try a Vape Mod

There are quite a few positive qualities to using vape mods.

First of all, they look nice. The shape and size can be quite different than that of a traditional e-cig.

They also offer a higher range of power, and you can produce more vapor with some mods. These advanced features offer more control over exactly what your mod can do. For example, you might be able to change the speed of the coil heating up with some mods.

Another top reason to try a mod is to enjoy the longer battery life. These larger battery capacities can go longer without being charged.

Reasons Not to Try a Vape Mod

In spite of the countless people who love their vape mods, there are still a few who will prefer life without mods. What are some of the ways to tell a mod isn’t for you?

If you don’t care about having lots of power, you might not need a mod. And if you don’t want any advanced features, a traditional e-cig may be more your style. E-cigs are simple to use, which is why they’re ideal for beginners. They also are smaller and lighter than most mods.

Types of Vape Mods

Now that you know whether mod life is for you, here are a few of the different features you might consider when you make your choice.

1. Variable Wattage/Power Range

The majority of mods on the market are variable wattage (VW) mods. These let you adjust how much wattage makes it to your atomizer.

One of the simplest considerations when you’re choosing a mod is the power setting range. For the most part, a wider range is ideal. But most vapers don’t need a terribly high power.

Think about how much power you’ll probably use, rather than going for the highest power on the market. If low-wattage devices aren’t working for you, or if you want bigger clouds of vapor, you’ll want higher power. However, for the average vaper, 80 watts is plenty of power.

2. Temperature Control

With temperature control vaping, you can set a particular temperature for your vaping, instead of a particular wattage.

This can make your e-liquids taste better, and helps get rid of “dry puffs” with charred, unpleasant liquid.

Mods can offer a range of temperatures to choose from. However, for temperature control, you’ll need to vape with titanium, nickel, or stainless steel coils.

3. Wattage and Temperature Control

Most temperature control (TC) mods keep your mod going at a particular wattage when you start vaping.

In fact, the wattage is fixed on some e-cig devices. Many mods stay at the maximum wattage possible no matter how you set the temperature. But a fancier TC mod will also let you change the starting, or “ramp up,” wattage.

If you increase the wattage, you’ll get a harder hit. When you decrease it, the hit becomes softer. Many modern TC mods offer this option – but not all, so you should always check before you buy.

4. Output Mod

Often, mods don’t have that many output options besides the wattage, TC, and the occasional “bypass” option. However, a few mods do offer other options that allow you to choose strength.

You can simplify adjusting your mod with this option, which lets you choose a “hard” or “soft” hit. The “norm” setting is usually ideal for most vapers, but if you want more control, you’ll enjoy having the other options.

Ready to Choose a Vape Mod?

The vape mod world is constantly changing, and new features are being added all the time. However, with this guide to the basics, you’re ready to get out there and get started with your first vape mod.

As time goes by, you’ll probably build up a collection of vape mods, depending on what you like best. Check out our mod reviews here to get started.

A Beginner’s Guide to Doing Awesome Vape Tricks

Over 9 million adults regularly vape. But it’s not just the act of vaping that’s becoming hot, it’s the general vape culture as well.

There are online chat rooms dedicated to discussing the best vape products, vape flavors, whether Juuling counts as vaping, entire twitter accounts dedicated to vape memes, and more.

One subset of the culture that many people want to get into, but aren’t sure how, is vape tricks. Anyone can vape, but not everyone can blow Os and create tornados with their mouth (get your head out of the gutter, here).

If you’re a beginner vaper, or at least a beginner vape trickster, it’s confusing on how to get on that train. The good news is that we’ve compiled this easy to follow guide on how to start doing smoke tricks. You’ll move from beginner to expert in no time.

The Dragon

For a beginner’s guide, it makes sense to start off with some of the easiest tricks out there.

But just because this is one of the easiest vape tricks doesn’t mean it isn’t also one of the coolest ones. The dragon will make you look like, well, a dragon. Smoke billows out both your nose and the corners of your mouth, which will give the illusion that you’re a vape master.

What people don’t need to know is how easy this trick is. Begin by taking a deep, long drag from your vape or e-cig of choice. Then, all you have to do is exhale out of both your nose and your mouth.

The key here is to keep the middle of your lips clasped shut so the vapor can only escape out of the corners.

And that’s the whole trick! Get ready to look and feel like the coolest vaper at the party (which, let’s face it, isn’t too difficult at times).

The Waterfall

This is another trick that looks expert-level but is actually perfect for beginners. You’ll need a prop for this trick: a bottle or glass with a bit of frozen water at the bottom.

All you have to do is take a nice drag from your favorite vape or e-cig and gently exhale it into the bottle or glass you prepared. The frozen water at the bottom will essentially make the vapor a little bit heavier than usual, which will allow you to pour it out of the glass like a waterfall as though it’s a potion and you’re a medieval medicine man.

Vapor Bubble

Here’s another one that requires a prop: you’ll need a bubble wand and some soapy water. Take a drag from your vape, and blow it out while simultaneously blowing a bubble.

The vapor will be transported inside the bubble which will create, well, a vapor bubble if you can believe it. When the bubble pops, a mist of vapor will be released, and you’ll feel like the coolest vaper on the planet.

Smoke Rings

Now we’re getting into the good stuff. Any smoker will tell you that blowing Os, aka smoke rings, is one of the coolest tricks you can do. They’ll make you seem like an expert smoker, even though they’re somewhat easy to master.

Unlike the tricks we’ve gone over so far, smoke rings will take practice to get right. As with most tricks, start by taking a nice long drag. Instead of immediately exhaling, you’ll want to try and keep the vapor in your throat.

Next, purse your lips into an “O” shape. You’ll feel like an idiot, but this is the key to the trick. The “O” has to be exaggerated and tight, so don’t hold back.

To make the smoke ring, you then push the vapor up from your throat and out the “O” of your lips in one quick burst. Chances are your first attempts will just create puffs instead of Os.

Don’t give up, though, as this trick is not only cool, but it’s also a necessary step to learning more complicated tricks later.

The Tornado

Let’s take a step back from the slightly more difficult Os to a trick on the level of the dragon. The tornado trick will let you create little cyclones to give the illusion that you’re a vape wizard.

Take your drag and gently exhale it onto a flat surface like a table or a desk. This will create a small pool of vapor. To make this into a tornado, you want to quickly cup your hand and flick it upward over the pool of vapor.

This movement will spiral the vapor into a spiral that looks a lot like a tornado. It can take some practice to get the wrist movement right, but for a vape trick, it’s pretty simple.

Ghost Inhale

You’ve definitely seen this trick done before: someone pushes the vapor out of their mouth for a split second before inhaling it back in.

The details of this trick don’t go much deeper than that, either. You take your drag, push it out of your mouth, and then quickly inhale it back in through your mouth.

You can make this trick a little fancier by doing what’s called a french inhale, which is a variation of the ghost inhale. Instead of inhaling the vapor back in with your mouth, you let the vapor flow out of your mouth as you inhale it up through your nostrils.

Start Practicing These Awesome Vape Tricks to Go From Beginner to Expert

All tricksters have to start somewhere. These beginner tricks will get you on the track to becoming an expert in vape tricks in no time.

There’s no reason why beginners can do awesome tricks, either, as evidenced by these sick tricks you can learn with little to no experience doing tricks.

The Gamucci E-Cigarette Review

I smoked for roughly fifteen years before I decided that I wanted to quit to try to better my health. Quitting smoking cold turkey felt nearly impossible to do, however, so I wanted to see if vaping was right for me.

Many of the vapors that I saw seemed to be a bit more complicated than I wanted them to be and a lot costlier too. After searching around, I decided to try the Gamucci E-Cigarette because it was affordable and easy to use.

The Pros and Cons of the Gamucci E-Cigarette’s Look

The exterior of the Gamucci e-cigarette is designed to look very similar to a normal cigarette. I did find that it felt a bit longer than a regular one. When vaping with the Gamucci, the end has an LED light on it that lights up. It would look more authentic if the light had a red color to it when it was lit, but mine has a green color which makes it look odd when I use it.

The Gamucci Is Simple to Use

I love the fact that this e-cigarette was so easy to use. Some of the vape starter kits I saw available for purchase seemed to have tons of parts and made me nervous that I would do something wrong and break it before I even got to use it.

The Gamucci ended up being great because I didn’t have to worry about filling it with vape juice or worry about charging it. All I had to do was open the packaging, remove the protective stickers over the holes that the vape comes out of, and use it. The battery lasted a little more than a day and a half, so I was able to get plenty of use out of it before the battery died.

Using the Gamucci Was Different Than I Expected

When I first bought the e-cigarette, I didn’t know what to expect. I had heard different things and was worried that the vape was going to be too harsh or not harsh enough to make it feel authentic. I was pleasantly surprised with the vapor that came out of the Gamucci; it wasn’t too harsh and had a great tobacco flavor. I did have to pull quite a bit when inhaling though, and the packaging claims that you can get up to 400 inhalations from the e-cigarette, but I feel like you really only get about 250 to 300 good strong puffs from it.

The Gamucci Is a Good Overall Investment

I liked the fact that the Gamucci was so inexpensive because I was able to take it with me into clubs and not worry about damaging it or losing it; the affordable price and compact size of the e-cigarette made it great for use on the go. I did feel a little embarrassed when using it at first because it was obvious it wasn’t a real cigarette, but once I saw a few people vaping the insecurity disappeared.

I found this to be a great way to introduce myself to vaping without having to invest in an expensive vape starter kit. I was able to dramatically cut back on the number of cigarettes that I smoked on a daily basis and did eventually quit smoking altogether. Overall, it was a great investment that I made to recommend to everyone.
